Kagoshima Jazz Festival was born in 2017.
In 2019, the festival drew 67,000 people and has grown to become "one of the best big ・ festivals in Japan that focuses on authenticity" and has been featured in the national media.
One of the most notable aspects of jazz music is the improvised ensemble. Artists create music through improvisation, in a different place, with different members each night. The sounds spun by the performers, the atmosphere of the audience, the ambience of the venue, and everything about the place become inspiration, and are transformed into music that can never be reproduced. This is the daily routine of the jazz music scene and its greatest thrill. Our goal is to create a festival that captures and concentrates the everyday life of the jazz scene. To achieve this, we do not book groups of artists, but offer individual performance offers to the top jazz artists who are active in the real jazz scene. And we have thoughtfully created various combinations so that everyone can enjoy authentic jazz, whether you are a jazz expert or a jazz connoisseur, and provide an attractive stage that can only be heard here.
